የኢትዮጵያ ነፃ ጋዜጠኞችንና ጦማርያንን ማን ይፈራቸዋል? (ፕ/ር አለማየሁ ገብረማርያም)

ትርጉም በነጻነት ለሀገሬ:- 

የእስክንድር ነጋን፣ ርዕዮት ዓለሙን፣ ውብሸት ታዬን፣ የዞን ዘጠኝ ጦማሪዎችን…የዴሞክራሲያዊ መብት የመጠቀም የትግል እንቅስቃሴ ሲመለከት እንደሚዳቋ እየበረገገ የሚስፈነጠረው ማን ነው?

የኢትዮጵያ የነጻው ፕሬስ እና ጦማርያን ቁንጮ የሆነው እስክንድር ነጋ ሀሳቡን በነጻ በመግለጹ ብቻ በአምባገነኑ የወሮበላ ቡድን ስብስብ የይስሙላው የዝንጀሮ ፍርድ ቤት የ18 ዓመታት እስር ተበይኖበት በገዥው አካል የማጎሪያ እስር ቤት በመማቀቅ ላይ ይገኛል፡፡ ሟቹ መለስ ዜናዊ ልዩ ትዕዛዝ እስክንድር ነጋ በቁጥጥር ስር እንዲውል እና የ18 ዓመቱ የሸፍጥ እስራት እንዲበየንበት ተደርጓል፡፡ መለስ ዜናዊ በኢትዮጵያ ከሚገኙ ማናቸውም ጋዜጠኞች የበለጠ እስክንድር ነጋን ይፈራዉና ይጠላው ነበር፡፡ ዝሆን አይጦችን “ይፈራል” ከሚለው ኢ-ስነ አመክንዮ አንጻር በተመሳሳለ መልኩ መለስም እስክንድር ነጋን እንደጦር ይፈራው ነበር፡፡

በቅርቡ እስክንድር ከማጎሪያው እስር ቤት ለ8 ዓመት ልጁ ለናፍቆት እንዲህ የሚል ግልጽ ደብዳቤ ጽፏል፣ “እንዲያው ሁኔታውን ሳየው እያለሁ የሌለሁ የዘፈቀደ አባት ሆኛለሁ፣ ምክንያቱም በ18ኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን ፈረንሳዮች ነጻነት፣ እኩልነት፣ ፍቅር እያሉ ደጋግመው ይጠሯቸው የነበሩትን ሶስት ቀላል ቃላትን በመውሰድ እኔም በሀገሬ ነጻነት፣ እኩልነት እና ፍቅር እንዲሰፍን በማሰብ እነዚህን ቃላት በማስተጋባቴ ነው በሸፍጠኞች ለእስር የተዳረግሁት“ ብሏል፡፡ እስክንድር ለነጻነት፣ ለእኩልነት እና ለአብሮነት ፍቅር ጦማሪ ነው፡፡ ለዚህም ነው ለእኔ የጀግናዬ ተምሳሌት የሚሆነው!

Ethiopia and China: How Two Former Empires Connected in the 20th Century

Ethiopia was never colonized and along with China has a long imperial history. China’s imperial period came to an end with the fall of the Qing dynasty and formation of the Republic of China as a constitutional republic in 1912. The overthrow of Emperor Haile Selassie in 1974 by a left-wing military junta ended Ethiopia’s empire. In 1970, four years before the end of Ethiopia’s empire, the People’s Republic of China established formal diplomatic relations with Haile Selassie’s imperial government.

Although China and Ethiopia have imperial backgrounds, they only became well acquainted after both of them became republics. In the early years, this relationship grew modestly and only began to surge in the mid-1990s when the government of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi encouraged closer ties with China to tap into its financial resources and balance close ties with Western countries, particularly the United States. Today, China is arguably Ethiopia’s most important bilateral economic partner.

በኢጋድ የመሪዎች ጉባኤ መክፈቻ ላይ አቶ ሀይለማርያም ሁለቱ የደቡብ ሱዳን ግጭት ተወናዮች አዲስ አበባ ላይ የተደረሰውን የተኩስ አቁም ስምምነት  ጥሰዋል ሲሉም ወቅሰዋል።

Israeli FM Liberman to visit Ethiopia

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman to visit Africa for the first time in five years, calls Africa 'a key objective in foreign policy.'

Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman was to leave Tuesday for visits to several African countries on a mission to gain observer status for the Jewish state in the African Union (AU).

The 10-day trip, Liberman's first to Africa since 2009, will be to Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Kenya and Ethiopia, a foreign ministry statement said.

"Africa is a key objective in the foreign policy of Israel, and we will deploy political efforts so Israel can be admitted this year as an observer member of the African Union," it quoted Liberman as saying.

"Relations with African countries have strategic importance for Israel, from a security, political and economic point of view," he said.

Some 50 business delegates will accompany Liberman.

Israel, a major exporter of arms to its neighboring continent, has a large population of African immigrants.

Ethiopia's foreign minister invites Egypt's El-Sisi for more dam talks in Addis Ababa

Ethiopian Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom has invited Egypt's newly-inaugurated President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to visit his country, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.

Jalied Ethiopian journalist-Eskinder Nega awarded Golden Pen of Freedom

Eskinder Nega was commended for his fight to create 'a just and free society' at World Newspaper Congress in Torino. 

Eskinder Nega, an Ethiopian journalist imprisoned on terrorism charges in 2011, has been awarded the Golden Pen of Freedom as an "emblem of Ethiopia's struggle" and a symbol of solidarity with jailed journalists around the world.

In an emotional speech, Martin Schibbye, who accepted the award on Nega's behalf having spent time in the same prison on similar charges, said: "It is not us fighting for his freedom, but he who is fighting for ours. Stay strong Eskinder."

Ethiopia arrests 25 Shebab-linked suspects in 'terror' sweep

Government spokesman says those detained have been trained by militants in Somalia and were planning series of attacks in Jimma.

ADDIS ABABA - Ethiopian police arrested 25 people accused of plotting attacks in the country and suspected of having links to Somalia's Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab rebels, officials said Thursday.

Government spokesman Shimeles Kemal said that those detained had been trained by the militants in Somalia and were planning a series of attacks in Jimma, about 305 kilometres (189 miles) southwest of the Ethiopian capital and where the arrests were made.

"About 25 people have been apprehended on suspicion of organising an underground terrorist cell," he said, adding that "a number of weapons" were also seized and the suspects likely to be charged.

Ethiopia, which shares a 1,600 kilometre border with Somalia, sent troops into the country in 2011 to help African Union and Somali defence forces fight the Shebab. It currently has around 4,500 troops in the country and has spearheaded a recent offensive against the Islamists.

Cairo and Khartoum caught in the winds of the Ethiopian dam

Egyptian-Sudanese relations have yet to address any of the major points that are being discussed between the two countries today and this is primarily due to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Sudan is greatly concerned that Egyptian officials believe that it is within the best interests of their country's national security to prevent any dams from being built outside of their national borders. Meanwhile for Sudan, any agricultural development is directly tied to building more dams, particularly outside the Sudanese borders.

Water storage facilities in Sudan are not capable of housing the amounts of water resources that are needed to irrigate the vast amounts of agricultural planes in the country. Even when it comes to the question of Halayeb, an area of disputed land between the Egyptian and Sudanese border which is currently under Egyptian control much to the fear of the Sudanese, it is likely that Egypt will use this territory as a playing card with which it will place pressure on Sudan to give up some of its most basic water rights.
